Who can file a name reservation application?
The Produire une demande de réservation de nom online service is intended for any person wishing to file a name reservation application with the Registraire des entreprises, in particular to constitute, continue the existence of, amalgamate or revive a Québec business corporation (a for-profit legal person) or to modify the name of a business corporation already constituted. It is also possible to obtain a name reservation in order to constitute or modify a Québec non-profit legal person.
What is a name reservation application?
Reserving a name is optional. However it does prevent the Registraire des entreprises from accepting the reserved name for the constitution of another business corporation (for-profit legal person) or non-profit legal person, and for a name change.
However, reserving a name does not prevent another enterprise from registering the same name in the section entitled “Autre noms utilisés au Québec” (other names used in Québec).
A name reservation is valid for 90 days.

- Name reservation is a name prevalidation process. However, we can subsequently reject the name based on the information in the application. To facilitate the processing of the name reservation application, specify the nature and origin of the proposed name and give a summary description of the enterprise's activities.
- We do not refund the fees related to a name reservation application that we refused.
You may leave the service at any time and complete the request later. Your data will be preserved for 90 days.
