Covid-19: Relief measure regarding the payment of the annual registration fee

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Registraire des entreprises has adopted a relief measure extending the deadline by which enterprises must pay the annual registration fee for the current year.

This measure extends the deadline for paying the annual fee to September 1, 2020. It applies to all enterprises for which the end date for filing their annual updating declaration is between March 13, 2020, and August 31, 2020.

This measure goes hand in hand with relief measures announced by Revenu Québec, which also postpones to September 1, 2020, the deadline for paying income tax, contributions and the annual registration fee for the enterprise register related to the 2019 taxation year.

In addition, all enterprises covered by this measure that have already paid a late-filing penalty will be automatically reimbursed in the coming weeks.

Payment of the annual registration fee

Enterprises must pay the annual registration fee to the Registraire des entreprises at the time of filing its annual updating declaration. Legal persons that file the income tax return and the annual updating declaration together must pay their annual fee with their income tax.

Note that if the updating declaration is filed and the required fees are paid after September 1, 2020, late-filing penalties will apply.

We remind you that registered enterprises must file an annual updating declaration every year during the prescribed period, even if they have no changes to make to the information in the enterprise register.
