To optimize our online services and make them easier to use, we will be updating our online services from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Our online services will not be available during this time. Exceptionally, the Rechercher une entreprise au registre service will be back online as of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Requesting a Copy of a Document or a Certificate of Attestation

Use the Demander une copie de document ou un certificat d'attestation online service to obtain:

  • a certified or uncertified copy of a document deposited in the enterprise register or in the central enterprise database (documents dating from before 1994)
  • a Certificat d'attestation
  • a Certificat de régularité (documents filed before 1994)
Note
The certification number provided with the copy and the attestation number provided with the Certificat d'attestation make it possible to verify the validity of the document by means of the Vérifier un Numéro de Certification online service.

You may leave the service at any time and return to complete the request later. Your data will be kept for 30 days.

Requesting a copy of a document

A certified copy is a copy that the Registraire des entreprises certifies to be an exact copy of the document in the register.

To request a copy of a document concerning an enterprise, you need the enterprise's file number (NEQ, central enterprise database number or number in the database of public authorities), which you can obtain by means of the Rechercher une entreprise au registre online service.

If the document requested has not been digitized, you will not be able to view it. You will receive a description of the document, of which you can obtain a printed copy. However, if the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information applies to the document that you wish to consult, you may neither display it nor request a copy of it.

Requesting a Certificat d'attestation

It is also possible to request a Certificat d'attestation from the Registraire des entreprises confirming the status of an enterprise's registration in the enterprise register. Such a certificate indicates the date the enterprise was registered, or that the enterprise was never registered or that its registration has been cancelled. If the enterprise is registered, it also indicates whether the enterprise:

  • has failed to file one or more annual updating declarations
  • has failed to comply with a request from the Registraire des entreprises
  • is in the process of dissolution

You can also use this online service to request a Certificat de régularité (documents filed before 1994). For purposes of the request, the enterprise's file number corresponds to the central enterprise database number that was assigned to the enterprise, not its Québec enterprise number (NEQ). You must select Attestation in the list of documents.

Note

The Certificat d'attestation issued by the Registraire des entreprises confirms the registration status of an entity. Do not confuse the Certificat d'attestation with the Attestation de Revenu Québec, which is required to submit a bid in response to a public call for tenders or to conclude a mutual agreement contract.

To obtain an Attestation de Revenu Québec, consult Revenu Québec’s website.

The registrar can also attest that an entity is being liquidated or dissolved, provided that a declaration, a notice or a judgment to that effect has been transmitted to the registrar (section 108 of the Act respecting the legal publicity of enterprises).

Note
We suggest that you verify that the enterprise’s file is up to date before you request a Certificat d'attestation.

For the fees applicable to requests for copies of a document or a Certificat d'attestation, please consult the fee schedule.
