The Registraire des Entreprises to Join Données Québec
On May 2, 2012, the Québec government made a commitment to open government, inspired by a will to improve public services. The concept of open government is based on three key principles:
With Données Québec, the government aims to:
- provide a better access to open data (administrative data of public interest);
- allow the general public to interact with the organizations posting open data;
- simplify data use and cross-referencing;
- highlight the potential of open data;
- increase the transparency of public authorities.
Données Québec is the result of a cooperative effort involving the Québec government and several municipalities to create a common open data portal. This portal is the general public's single gateway to Québec open datasets.
Open data is public interest information grouped by business activity sector. Open data is raw data that can be easily analyzed and used by a computer or an application in accordance with the attributed licence. However, some information in the enterprise register has been modified for confidentiality purposes.
The Registraire des entreprises is happy to join the new Données Québec portal. Making the data of the Registraire des entreprises open and reusable provides a great opportunity to develop new products and services intended for enterprises and individuals.
