Modernization of the Registraire des entreprises

As of February 14, 2011, the Enterprise Registrar will be governed by two new statutes:

• The Act respecting the legal publicity of enterprises which consolidates the Act respecting the legal publicity of sole proprietorships, partnerships and legal persons and the Act respecting the enterprise registrar;
• The Business Corporation Act which is intended to modernize and ease the law applicable to companies governed by Parts I and IA of the Companies Act.

Note

Part III of the Companies Act will remain in force and continue to govern legal persons that have no share capital and that were constituted or continued by letters patent.

These statutes aim to simplify the administrative formalities required of enterprises, through online services accessible at all times.

The online services available on the Enterprise Registrar’s website will enable enterprises to:

• Constitute a business corporation;
• Register;
• Update their information;
• Fulfil their obligations; and
• Make inquiries or transactions when it suits them.

The Enterprise Registrar will also make a tool available to authorized professionals acting as communication intermediaries between the Registrar and enterprises. The tool will enable them to manage the files of the enterprises they are in charge of.

To access these services, you must identify yourself using your clicSÉQUR express code and your NEQ. If you do not know the business's clicSÉQUR express access code, contact our client services. We will mail you a new code within 15 business days of your request.

Important!

The email containing the code was or will be sent to the enterprise's head office and addressed to the head of the enterprise or the accounting department. You do not have to register to obtain the code, which is automatically sent to all registrants.
